Mary Quant is credited with introducing the Miniskirt to the world in 1966. Gone were the 1950s and the days of passive sexuality — Marilyn Monroe was out and Twiggy was in. Women embraced their sexuality not to promote themselves as objects of male desire but as vehicles of a larger social upheaval. The Miniskirt was a bold statement of a woman's confidence and her place in the new world around her.
